Our story

Weatherbys Scientific began life in 1985, commencing parentage testing in Thoroughbred horses using blood typing technology. Our formative years were spent at a facility on the same site as the Irish Equine Centre in Johnstown, County Kildare, before we moved to our current lab in Naas. Job Title: Bloodstock Intern

5-month Fixed Term (August - December)

Job Purpose

 

We are seeking a Bloodstock Intern to join our team on a temporary basis, to provide resource and support to the Bloodstock Operations team in areas of data entry and system maintenance, pedigree research and bloodstock publication administration.

 

This position is a 5-month fixed term opportunity, working 35 hours per week, Monday– Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm and will be based in Weatherbys Ireland, Naas, Co.Kildare.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

·        Support the Bloodstock Operations team throughout the busy pedigree production season, as well as maintain the bloodstock system daily

·        Liaise with the Bloodstock Operations Manager to complete daily bloodstock administration tasks assigned to you

·        Assist in pedigree research training that will allow an involvement in pedigree related products and services

·        Contribute to the production of the annual Weatherbys Stallion Book.

·        Attend the Weatherbys Ireland sales office at all major sales dates, as well as assist in publication sales &customer queries

  

Skill Requirements:

 

·        Knowledge of Racing and Breeding industry

·        Good interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

·        Meticulous attention to detail

·        The ability to prioritise workloads to ensure deadlines are met

·        Able to keep pace with updates to processes and procedures

·        The role will suit an individual who isa quick learner who is accurate and organised

·        A flexibility of approach will also be critical in a fast-changing environment
