The programme is aimed at supporting companies within the aquatech sector to scale and develop their businesses.
From the companies that took part, Weatherbys Scientific was chosen to present their business at the Bord Iascaigh Mhara Aquatech conference.
The conference, ‘Aquatech – Ireland’s Global Opportunity’ was an opportunity for key stakeholders in Ireland's aquaculture innovation community to network, share ideas and hear from some of the most influential and exciting figures in the aquaculture industry.
Our Business Development Manager, John Kingston, spoke to Radio Kerry's Mary Gallagher on the In Business Show, saying:
"Since I joined the company, we've identified aquaculture as a growth space.
"We have a couple of ongoing projects with one aquaculture species in particular, and we're hoping that with the support of Bord Iascaigh Mhara and HATCH to identify other species in aquaculture and to apply our DNA technologies to that sector.
"Ireland has the unique opportunity to be a hub for aquatech companies. We've been dealing with the livestock industry now for over 30 years and we're here to learn more about the issues that exist in aquaculture and how we can provide solutions through genetics and through our DNA technologies to some of those problems."
